Con Voce is proud to be associated with High Street Baptist Church and deeply grateful for giving us use of its facilities as our rehearsal venue. |
|
Originally established in 1807 the current building was completed in 1841 and is a grade II listed building. The interior retains much of its original features and underwent substantial redecoration in 2007. The church hall was added in 1929 and underwent a major renovation in 2008 when a new kitchen was fitted. High Street was the second English-speaking Baptist Church established in Wales as a mission to immigrants. Over 50 years later it was one of a dozen English-speaking Baptist Churches that formed the first English-speaking Baptist Association in Wales. |

We are situated in the centre of Merthyr Tydfil on the main pedestrianised shopping street. Services tend to be fairly traditional. We have a strong music tradition and we use a digital organ which sounds like a standard pipe organ. Mainly we sing from ‘complete Mission Praise’. |

The church is currently in the process of seeking a new Minister. Administrator: Anne Jones Tel. (01685) 371372 |

Communion is taken in the morning on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays in the month and in the evening on the 4th Sunday. The elements (bread and wine) are distributed to the congregation in the pews. The bread is consumed as we receive it; the wine is served in individual cups and is retained so we drink it together to represent our unity.
We are a FAIRTRADE church. We use FAIRTRADE products where possible and expect as a minimum standard that all users of the church buildings will use FAIRTRADE tea, coffee and sugar. |
